NYLC assists State Afterschool Networks in identifying the information needed to build a sustainable model for service-learning integration that will increase the quantity and quality of service-learning experiences for young people. Selected states received funding, technical support, and trainings so that service-learning becomes a sustainable and systematic part of afterschool learning.

The Engage Service-Learning Handbook series is designed to help youth workers bring service-learning to afterschool programs in approximately 15 one-hour sessions. By the end of the experience, young people will have acted on issues of importance to them through a deliberative inquiry-based process!
